The wrong words can wound, tear down, and destroy. Speaking love will bring life, peace, unity & freedom. But how do you speak love when unloving thoughts bombard your mind? 2 Corinthians 10:5 NIV says, “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” So not every thought that comes into our mind is from God, some are obedient thoughts and some are not. It depends on the nature of the thought… Is it in the nature of God? Does the thought line up with the Word of God the bible? Just because a thought comes into your mind that is a disobedient thought doesn’t mean that you have sinned, it depends on what you do next with that thought. If you resist a disobedient thought from staying in your mind, your doing good, however, if you dwell on it and it begins to take root in your “thought life” your going to have problems if it is not a good thought. Philippians 4:8 NIV says, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” James 4:7 NIV says, “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
Pretend you have a trap box in your mind, and in that box you force all your thoughts to stay until you decide what to do with them, whether to receive them or not. The first step is to slow down.
